The article by Akasha called 'The End Times and New Age' has got a sympathetic ring to it. I like to thank Akasha for her attempt to bridge Christian concepts and 'New Age'-concepts. There are however many elements in her article that I do not completely resonate with. I will try to work out a number of them in order to highlight some differences and some similarities. It realize that it is very difficult to find the right terminology to do this bridging work. Perhaps we can find more common ground as we progress together in this project. I'm still ready to participate in the possibility to bridge Christianity and the Ascension Paradigm of the SSOA. It is a very flexible project which will probably change along the way.

Christian and New Age Movements
It is not easy to describe Christianity since there are many groups that have formed that call themselves Christian during the last millenia. To speak of New Age as if it is one collective with one point of view would be like saying there is only one christian movement. I think there are many movements within the New Age scene that speak of ascension. From my current perspective I have to say that I hardly resonate with any of them. In fact, I am only aware of one exception and that is the paradigm that is described by the Spiritual School of Ascension (SSoA) by Karen Danrich and Thomas Weber which you can find at www.ascendpress.org. This is the only perspective that I have found useful in my own ascension process to date. It has become the working paradigm for this exploring ascension section. Because I do not feel comfortable with most of the new age theories I have grown to dislike the term 'new age' applied to the SSoA, but I can understand that people who are not familiar with anything from the new age scene would qualify the SSoA as being a part of the new age movement.

Neo-Christianity
The term Neo-Christianity is used in reference to these new age theories of ascension. Although Christ and Christianity may appear in all kinds of new age movements, they hardly appear in the material of the SSoA. In fact I have grown to believe that the complete concept of Christ as used in Christianity is not necessary to the ascension process. To call the SSoA therefore a neo-christian movement is something that I cannot agree with. Perhaps read 'Acceptance of Christ' to read more about Christ in relation to the ascension as described in the SSoA paradigm. I realize that this is quite a statement and it is not meant to offend Christian people. Perhaps Christianity offers a way to ascend as well, a way that I am not aware of. A change in title might be appropriate.

Anchoring a Vibration of Harmony
Here we have a similarity. Both the SSoA-perspective and Christianity seem to desire to anchor a vibration of harmony. I am not absolutely sure what the Christian approach is to reach such a state. I do know what the SSoA-theory says about ways to work towards such a 'vibration of harmony'. I would like to spend some time on the ways this anchoring would be established from a Christian point of view.

End Time Prophecies
In a way the SSOA speaks of important times in which an evolution of consciousness would take place. This would imply the departure of many people who cannot ascend along with Earth. Earth would be ascending, that is, she would be raising her vibrations, and everyone who has the biological (and thus genetic) information to ascend along will do so. Due to many manipulations a lot of people do not have this information to alter their biology, which would imply many people dying. Their souls, however, would witness the ascension of the people with whom they are connected.

I don't remember exactly what is written in the book of revelations, but to me it stresses that the 144,000 'chosen people' are elected and that the rest would die, and then the Heaven on Earth can be established. Take a look at the page in the exploring section that deals with this number of 144,000 as it is used in the book of Revelations and how it is used in the SSoA perspective.

The Concept of Satan, the devil
Within Christianity the concept of a devil is quite important, at least as far as I have come to understand Christianity. Within the SSoA-paradigm there is no such being as the devil. There are however all kinds of beings and entities that would do all they can to stop people from ascending. These beings would come in various forms and some of them are called false gods or ascended masters. See 'Sananda and the Ascended Masters' to read more about these forces who would like to obstruct the ascension process of humanity.

To Make Peace with All Those We Have Considered Enemies
This is an important thought within the SSoA paradigm. Those that we consider to be enemies or to enlarge this group a bit, everyone who we judge to be wrong, better or worse, are those that we need to embrace. To embrace would imply that we realize that all deviant or undesirable behavior that humans can display has been part of the tapestry of your ancestry. Within the SSoA stress is placed on the importance of our ancestry. It would be the ancestry that would carry the genetic information that would allow our biology to change into an ascending biology. The central way to collect this information from the ancestors is to understand and forgive all that they did, no matter how much you despise such behavior. You would need to realize that you are connected to all of them.

Christ is Divine Love
The concept of Divine Love is a very nice one I think, but I do not have a clear defition of what it means. If I would look at it from my current perspective I would think of it a result of a certain stage in your ascension process in which you have dissolved all kinds of harmful behavior towards others and yourself. This would allow you to look at the world in a more peaceful and harmless mode. Like I said before, this mode of being can be achieved without using the concept of Christ, in my opinion. If the experience of divine love is only possible when you let Christ into your life I would need to disagree. Perhaps this is the case for some people, but I think there are more ways to reach such a state. From this background I do not resonate with what Akasha wrote in her first article:

If Christ is Divine Love that can only be found within, to reject Christ is not only to reject God. It is to reject love and to reject the self. Perhaps this is the truth some Christians are trying to realize for themselves when they repeat emphatically the seemingly empty slogan that Christ must be the center of our lives.

The Power of Intent
For me the bible can be useful for some of the comparisons and tales that are told. They can be read as poetry or prose that can stimulate the mind. The image of the mustard seed is truly a beautiful one. The more you ascend the more you would be able to weave your own dreams. If you are able to remove the harmful thoughtforms and karmic loads from your system you would gain more and more skills in creating a life that you would like to live.

Reiki and Ascension
Reiki was one of the first methods that would facilitate ascension. However, it has turned out that Reiki is only useful in the initial phases of the ascension process. It could give you a start, but it would not be able to help you ascend beyond a certain treshold. I consider Reiki to be a kind of trick to raise your vibration. I do not think that true ascension can be achieved by taking a number of Reiki courses. Ascension would imply hard work to release karma and to remove harmful thoughtforms.

Longevity
Some 200,000 years ago men would have lived 2,000 years according to the SSoA-paradigm. The bible mentions people who have lived long lives as well. To be able to live for that long would imply a biology that is able to do so. Our present biology cannot establish that and that is why ascension would mean the gradual return of the biology that once was a part of our ancestry.

The Heart, Spirit and Will
The heart is crucial to the ascension process. Many hearts would have been shut during the early years of our lives. To learn to open your heart would be necessary otherwise the ascension process would halt. An open heart is needed to establish contact with ones soul (oversoul or source) or spirit. It is only with an open heart that you can truly allign your 'will' with your soul or spirit.
